Class Notes
Student lists all the main points of the book without having the book in front of him/her. They are also able to include other information found in the book.
The student lists all the main points, but does not expand on any other information from the book.
The student lists all but one of the main points from the book. S/he does not highlight any unimportant points.
The student does not include important information with accuracy.
Attention
The student pays attention in class. They listen carefully and answer all questions the teacher asks them. The are focused on classroom work at least 95% of the time.
The student listens to the teachers questions and focuses on classroom work 80-95% of the time.
The student pays attention 3/4 the time, but still struggles focusing on class work. The student is focused on class work and the teacher 70-80% of the time.
The student is unable to pay attention during class. They are off task over 70% of the time. The student does not listen to instructions and does not follow along and is lost when called on.
Participation
The students asks at least 2 questions per day and volunteers at least two answers per day. They offer answers if when unsure their answers are correct.
The students asks at least one question per day and in turn answers at least one question per day. The students is more open with asking questions and will volunteer responses to answers only when they are for sure their answers are correct.
The student asks at least 2 questions per week and in turn answers at least two questions per week, but no more than that. The student never volunteers their answers, but only answers when they are sure they are appropriate.
The student rarely participates with their classmates. The student rarely asks questions nor provides opinions.
Homework
The student always completes their homework on time even if unsure of the correct answer. The student refers to the class notes to aid in assignments.
The student regularly completes homework assignments, even when the problems are difficult or they are unsure of the correct. The student also regularly uses the class notes when working on homework.
The student attempts to complete most homework assignments, but quits when the questions seem to difficult. The students occasionally will use the notes when completing assignments.
The student regularly misses homework assignments and skips several questions. The students rarely checks class notes for help on any assignments.
Studying
The student studies for the test or quiz as soon as it is announced. They use their own class notes and any other material that will be of assistance.
The student begins studying for tests or quizzes at least 3 nights before. They use their classroom notes and other material found in the text.
The student begins studying at least two nights before a test or quiz and attempts spending 5-10 minutes each night.
The student only studies the night before a test or quiz. They only look at study guides or hand-outs.
