6+1 Trait Writing Model: Crazy Law Persuasive Essay

Project Description
Students learned the format for writing a persuasive essay, and then created their own crazy law and tried to persuade the reader into believing it was a good law. To introduce the topic, I created a PowerPoint presentation describing crazy laws that are on record throughout the United States. Then, the students brainstormed three funny, crazy laws and three supports for each of these laws. Finally, the students chose one of their laws and wrote a persuasive essay defending it. This helps the students learn and practice the modes of writing, specifically persuasive essay writing and associated skills.
