ANALYZE THE QUESTION
Students will circle performance verbs. Students will underline what the performance verb is asking for.(verb topic)
Analyze the Bill of Rights which is part of the Costitution of the United states of America.
DEVELOP THESIS
Students will show development of their thesis, or answer, to the essay question. Thesis must be clear and concise.
The Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments which were added to the U.S. Constitution. Each right covers an individual right which are provided to all American citizens.
BRAINSTORM IDEAS FOR EVIDENCE
Students will show brainstorm ideas using various graphic organizers. The information should be evidence that will be used in the body of the essay to prove their thesis or answer.
I. Constitution of the U.S. A. Ratified if Bill of rights added. B. 1st 10 Amendments. (flow charts, bubble charts, etc)
DEVELOP INTRO PARAGRAPH
Students will develop 1st paragraph by stating their thesis and commenting on THEIR answer.(Show work)
The Constitution of the United States of America would not have been ratified without the promise of the addition the Bill of rights which are the first ten amendments to the Constitution. These first ten amendments protect various individual rights given to all U.S. citizens.
DEVELOP BODY/EVIDENCE
Students will use brainstorming graphic organizer to develop the paragraphs which will make up the body of their essay response.(The body is the evidence to your thesis.)
(Teacher use any number of graphic organizers - bubble chart, flow chart, etc.)
CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH
Students will restate their thesis statement and that they have proved their thesis by evidence given in the body.
As detailed above, each of the first ten amendments comprise the Bill of Rights which were added to the Constitution in order to protect various individual rights.
