Makes good eye contact. Speaks clearly & is easily understood. Shows enthusiasm in voice or actions for book.
Subject knowledge is excellent. Uses many details and examples. Content is well organized. Bulleted lists & headings are used to group material. No mispellings or grammatical errors.
M Meets the Standard
Student gives the author & the title of the book.
Student gives the genre of the book.
Student includes enough story details for the audience to understand what the story is about.
Makes good eye contact. Speaks clearly & is easily understood.
Subject knowledge is good and uses a few details & examples. Bulleted lists and headings are used but overall organization appears flawed. Student's effort meets expectations. 3 or fewer misspellings and/or mechanical errors.
W Working toward the Standard
Student only gives one or the other.
Student only tells whether the book is fiction or non-fiction/does not go into detail about what genre it belongs to.
Student gives details, but not clearly enough for class to understand what the story is about.
Student makes eye contact with audience a few times. Inconcsistent in clearness or loudness.
Shows knowledge of the subject, but includes 1-2 factual errors. Content is logically organized for the most part. Student's effort is not meeting expectations. 4 misspellings and/or mechanical errors.
N Not meeting the Standard
Student gives no title or author of the book.
Student does not give the genre of the book.
Student gives unrelated details, or doesn't explain why details are important.
Student does not look at the audience, mumbles, talks too softly, or has many long pauses
Shows knowledge of the subject but includes more than 2 errors. Content is not organized. Student's effort is minimal. More than four misspellings and/or mechanical errors.
