Project Description
|
I am participating in a PT3 grant with a local college. The grant is about using technology and the arts to train pre-service teachers.
In my classroom, we studied Hispanic culture. Groups of students wrote plays about the five Community of Caring Values. We created characters out of moveable clay and designed scenery. Then we used our arts program to build retablos (mini shrines). We filmed the play and made mini-movies. We published the project online to show other educators. On this Web site you will find project objectives, materials and equipment needed, Internet resources, day-by-day plans, and step-by-step directions on Clayanimation. There is also an example of a finished project.

Teacher Tips | In my classroom, many students are English language learners. Many are refugees, and many are from low-income families. This project was so helpful in boosting their self-esteem. Also it really created an atmosphere in my classroom that I have not experienced with this population before. We really bonded! With technology comes problems, we have learned patience.
RubiStar was my evaluation for their work. We all filled it out together.
