Project Description
|
After completing a unit on weather students were asking to make a booklet that would illustrate different climates and weather from around the world. The student had to choose 3 different countries, each from a different continent, and find information about their average temperature, high temperature and what months they usually occur, lowest temperatures and what months they usually occur, average precipitation, highest and lowest amounts of precipitation and what months they usually occur. The students had to present the information in graph format (math connection). In total there would be 2 graphs, one for temperature and one for precipitation. The student also had to write 2-3 sentences about what that country's climate is mostly like. They also had to write 2-3 sentences about why it might be nice to live in this climate.
The booklet would be 3 separate pages stapled together with and front and back cover.
Students were able to use the internet, books and any other source for research. I recommended these sites: http://www.worldclimate.com and http://www.countryreports.org/weather/weather.aspx.
Students worked individually. This project is a finale assessment in a weather unit.

Teacher Tips | Students can struggle with defining a continent and a country and the separation of the two so I may assign countries to them next time. RubiStar helped me narrow down the specifics of my assessment!
