Project Description
|
This rubric was made to use to assess an oral presentation on information obtained by students completing a WebQuest called "Algebra in Motion." It is the activity of one of six lessons in a unit about integrating Algebra 1 and physical science called "Mooooooooove It!!!!!!!" This WebQuest is about manipulating and using formulas in Algebra 1 and 8th grade physical science, specifically Newton's Laws of Motion.
Students create an oral presentation that they give to the class about the Laws of Motion. They will need to do the WebQuest and decide what information is necessary for a basic understanding of the laws and how they are used or illustrated in real life. There are several parts that must be included in their final product.
The students are encouraged to use examples, costumes, interview formats, or other creative modes of presenting their findings from the WebQuest. |

Teacher Tips | This WebQuest was the first one I have ever written, so it probably needs some tweaking! I would assign it to students in pairs. It could, however, be assigned to individuals, in which case you would eliminate the collaboration with partner part of the rubric. I teach Algebra 1, so this would be a nice unit to run during the equation-solving chapter. RubiStar provided me with an excellent assessment tool that didn't take a long time to make. It is such a convenient way to make assessment tools. I give students the rubric when I assign the project so they know up front what the expectations are; there is no mystery about what they are supposed to include in their assignment/project. I have recommended using this site to make rubrics to all of my colleagues! You get a free, high quality assessment tool without taking hours to create it! You can't beat that!!! |
